Deako, a provider of modular smart lighting systems for homeowners, has announced that its products are now compatible with Home Assistant. This integration is intended to enhance the smart home ecosystem by allowing users to automate their lighting systems more efficiently. Deako’s modular system already integrates with platforms such as Alarm.com, Alexa, Google, Samsung SmartThings, Control4, and Clare Controls. This compatibility aims to provide homeowners with more options for customizing their home environments.
Deako’s CEO and Founder, Derek Richardson, has stated that this development supports the company’s goal of making smart home technology more accessible. This integration addresses a common need among smart home users by offering reliable and versatile lighting control. After updating or installing Home Assistant, users can detect Deako products on their Wi-Fi network, enabling integration with other systems like Apple Home, Hue, and Zigbee.
Richardson also mentioned that Deako’s approach aligns with the principles of the Open Home Foundation, emphasizing the importance of offering homeowners choices without incurring significant installation costs.
According to the Home Assistant module, the Deako integration is Local Polling. This means that once the devices are added into Home Assistant, your Home Assistant instance is able to communicate with the devices directly over Wifi. This is great for folks looking to keep their smart home controls local. It also means that in case of an internet outage, provided your local network stays up the Deako integration would continue to work.
