Google Announces Loss of Pulse Detection for Pixel Watch 3

Pixel Watch 3 has introduced a new feature designed to address medical emergencies involving a sudden loss of pulse. This feature is engineered to detect a loss of pulse due to cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, circulatory failure, or other causes, and automatically place a call to emergency medical services (EMS), relaying the wearer’s location.

The Pixel Watch 3 uses a combination of pulse detection, physiological data, and motion data, processed through an AI-driven algorithm that operates solely on the watch. The aim is to provide immediate assistance in situations where the wearer is non-responsive and no bystanders are present to help.

This feature can be life changing for folks who want to live on their own but should be monitored, or for anyone at risk of a loss of pulse event. Google hopes that this event becomes as beneficial as air bags or smoke detectors.
