Humble Games recently announced a restructuring of their operations due to challenging economic conditions for indie game publishing. The decision was made after much deliberation to ensure the stability and support of their developers and ongoing projects. This restructuring will not affect operations at Humble Bundle.

Engadget reports that Humble Games has laid off all 36 of its staff but will continue its operations. We don’t have confirmation that all of the staff was laid off, so for now that’s just speculation. Ongoing and upcoming projects will still receive support and be published by the studio. I’m not quite sure how they will be managing this if all of their staff have been laid off. Maybe the team at Humble Bundle will be helping with this.

Since Humble Games began publishing in 2017, the team’s contributions have been significant. They’ve helped to publish over 50 different games, and had quite a few games in the works. So it’s sad to see a strong indie publisher like this falling to economic troubles.

I know we all remember the tech layoffs of the past year plus. Here’s to hoping that this isn’t the first in a new series of tech layoffs.
