LG Electronics has been awarded the AI Management System (AIMS) certification, as per the announcement made by the Korean Standards Association (KSA). This certification is based on the international standard ISO/IEC 42001, which was developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The standard specifies requirements for a management system for artificial intelligence (AI), emphasizing responsible and ethical use of AI technologies.
The AIMS certification confirms that LG has established, maintains, and continually improves its AI Management System. It also indicates that LG adheres to a set of criteria encompassing the creation of AI policies, assessment and management of risks, ethical compliance, responsiveness to regulations, and transparency in AI management.
LG’s acquisition of AIMS certification is part of a broader commitment to ensure the secure and responsible deployment of AI in its home appliances. The certification is intended to increase consumer trust and support LG in maintaining a competitive edge in the home appliance market.
Previously, LG achieved distinctions related to its AI technologies, including the Deep Learning AI Verification from UL for its washing machines and dryers, and the AI Safety Certification from the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) for the AI features in the LG WashTower.
LG continues its data- and AI-driven research and development efforts aimed at creating a ‘Zero Labor Home’, with the goal of providing users with an effortless and enjoyable smart home experience, powered by LG’s advanced home appliances and services.
Lyu Jae-chul, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, stated that the certification reflects LG’s dedication to supplying customers with secure and responsible AI solutions that enhance quality of life.
