Nobi, a company specializing in technology for aging populations, has announced a new partnership with Frontier Senior Living, a major operator in the U.S. senior housing market. This collaboration will introduce Nobi’s AI-powered Smart Lamps to 56 Frontier communities, covering 3,700 living units. The initiative aims to improve fall detection and prevention, which is a critical issue in senior care.
According to Jennifer Moody, Regional Vice President at Frontier Senior Living, the integration of Nobi’s technology into their care plans follows successful pilot programs in two memory-care communities. The pilots demonstrated significant improvements in fall prevention and response times, while maintaining resident privacy by processing data locally on the Smart Lamp itself. This approach aligns with Frontier’s commitment to protecting resident dignity.
The pilot programs, conducted in June 2024, involved the installation of Smart Lamps in 31 units within two Frontier communities. Results showed a complete elimination of unwitnessed falls, and intervention times were reduced to an average of under four minutes. This reduction in response time is critical, as prolonged periods on the ground after a fall can increase mortality rates among the elderly by over 50% within six months.
Nobi’s Smart Lamps not only enhance safety but also assist care teams by reducing the time needed for post-incident investigations. Previously, staff would spend hours collecting and reporting information on falls with unidentified causes. With the precise detection and reporting capabilities of the Smart Lamps, this process now takes just minutes, allowing staff to focus on resident care and companionship.
Frontier Senior Living operates over 100 locations across 19 states, offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care. The organization is recognized as one of the most reliable senior housing operators in the U.S., with 25 of its communities being named “Best in Senior Living” by U.S. News & World Report in April 2024. Nobi began installing the Smart Lamps in November 2024, with completion of the 3,700 units expected before summer 2025. For more about Frontier, check out their website here.
