Takeaways
We watched the livestream today, and were particularly blown away by the motions that ChatGPT demonstrated. From surprise to joy and compassion, it was amazing to hear the different emotional tones rendered in a generated voice. Understanding and rendering human emotions is hard. They can be different between individuals, cultures, and languages. So to be able to hear emotions in a computer generated voice was very impressive.
We were also impressed by the response time of ChatGPT. If you’ve played with ChatGPT for any length of time, you’re familiar with the second or so that it takes to process what you want from it, even longer for more complex tasks like generating code, analyzing information, or understanding an image. The ChatGPT demo today with GPT-4o had none of this delay time. Now, this might be partially due to the demo’s connection to the GPT instance, but we’re really excited to see how this plays out in the wild.
