Reolink has joined the Works with Home Assistant program, becoming the latest partner to participate. Reolink introduces certified cameras and doorbells to this program. The certification encompasses a broad range of Reolink devices, including both battery-powered and wired models, with options for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and Wi-Fi connectivity. Reolink is frequently recommended within the Home Assistant community for its focus on local control, eliminating the need for cloud connectivity for advanced features, and its support for open protocols whenever possible.

Since its founding in 2009, Reolink has been developing video security solutions catering to various setups, ranging from extensive 10-camera PoE systems to a few Wi-Fi-connected cameras. The company aligns with Open Home values by emphasizing privacy, choice, and sustainability. Reolink prioritizes privacy by offering local video storage, with cloud storage as an optional feature. The devices support multiple streaming protocols, and battery models can send clips to an FTP server, allowing users greater choice and control. Unlike other brands that require subscriptions for features like motion detection, Reolink devices operate fully locally, ensuring all features work without internet access.

Reolink’s integration with Home Assistant is noted for its user-friendly features, including automatic device discovery, easy setup, firmware updates, and comprehensive documentation. This integration improves system stability and reliability due to its efficient and well-written code. The integration was developed by the Home Assistant community, with significant contributions from the Reolink team and community member @StarkillerOG. Reolink values its relationship with the active Home Assistant community and aims to continue this connection through its partnership.

The Works with Home Assistant program differs from other certification programs by rigorously testing products in-house to ensure they function correctly out of the box. Companies joining the program commit to providing long-term support and firmware updates while contributing positively to the Home Assistant community. The program is operated by the Open Home Foundation and is funded by Home Assistant Cloud subscribers. The certified Reolink devices include Video Doorbells (WiFi and Battery models) and several camera models such as the Reolink Argus Track, Duo 3 PoE, TrackMix PoE, RLC-823S2, and RLC-1224A.

The Works with Home Assistant program has experienced significant growth this year, with Reolink, Apollo Automations, and Motionblinds joining recently. The program anticipates further announcements as its momentum continues. For more information, check out the Home Assistant blog post here.
