Samsung has announced that its security solution, Samsung Knox, integrated into the company’s 2024 televisions, has achieved Common Criteria (CC) certification. The CC certification serves as a global standard for evaluating the security integrity of IT products and is recognized by 31 countries. Samsung Knox has now maintained this certification for ten consecutive years.
Samsung Knox, designed to enhance the security of Samsung’s televisions, has continually improved over the years. Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, stated that the company is committed to safeguarding customer privacy and security, which is reflected in their consistent achievement of CC certification.
The Common Criteria aims to ensure consistent and rigorous evaluation standards for IT products, thereby enhancing confidence in their security. The certification process includes a Protection Profile (PP) and a Security Target (ST), both of which Samsung Knox has successfully met.
The certification highlights three main security features of Samsung Knox:
- Tizen OS Monitoring: Samsung Knox detects potential hacking threats in real-time, flagging unauthorized changes in the Tizen OS, which is the core operating system of Samsung TVs.
- Phishing Website Blocking: The solution verifies web pages accessed by users and blocks phishing sites to protect user data and privacy.
- Enhanced Personal Information Protection: Samsung Knox ensures the protection of sensitive personal data through a secure connection with Samsung Knox Vault, a dedicated processor for security functions.
