Samsung Electronics has elaborated on its vision for artificial intelligence (AI) during a press conference at CES 2024. The company’s focus is on how AI technology can make device interaction more intuitive and convenient for users. Jong-Hee (JH) Han, the Vice Chairman, CEO, and Head of Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) Division, emphasized that AI would enhance daily life while remaining discreet and operating in the background. Samsung’s strategy centers around AI’s role in creating simple yet useful connected experiences.

Various products and services were showcased at the event, demonstrating the company’s commitment to this AI-driven future. Han highlighted that Samsung’s extensive range of devices, coupled with its dedication to open collaboration, would facilitate the spread of AI and hyper-connectivity.

Jonathan Gabrio, Head of Connected Experience Center at Samsung Electronics America, detailed the impact of AI on Visual Display products and Digital Appliances. An example of this is the Samsung Neo QLED 8K TVs, which feature an advanced AI Processor, the NQ8 AI Gen 3. This processor, with eight times more neural networks and a twice as fast neural processing unit (NPU) than its predecessor, allows the TV to upscale low-resolution content to near 8K quality.

The AI Motion Enhancer Pro on these TVs detects the type of sport being viewed and employs deep learning to enhance the clarity of fast-moving objects on screen. Additionally, the Active Voice Amplifier Pro uses AI to analyze and adjust voice and background noise levels to optimize the listening experience.

AI use isn’t limited to TV’s, but is integrated in Samsung refrigerators, clothes washers / dryers, personal robot assistants, cleaning robots, and more.
