Plantaform, a company recognized for its sustainable indoor gardening solutions, has announced the introduction of its Smart Indoor Garden in the United States. This product was awarded the CES Innovation Awards Best of Innovation in the Food and AgTech category for 2025. The Smart Indoor Garden is noted for being the first of its kind to utilize fog technology for plant growth. Alberto Aguilar, CEO of Plantaform, emphasized that this product aims to enable individuals and families to cultivate fresh produce throughout the year. The award signifies the company’s effort in changing indoor food cultivation through straightforward technology suited for contemporary homes.
The Plantaform Smart Indoor Garden merges aesthetics with functionality, offering a gardening solution that also serves as a decorative piece. It uses fogponics, a technology refined from NASA’s aeroponics, to deliver water and nutrients via a fine mist directly to plant roots. This method is reported to enhance plant growth rates and yields while maintaining a sustainable approach to gardening. The system is highly water-efficient, requiring 30 to 50% less water than hydroponic systems and 10% less than aeroponic systems, thus necessitating water refills only every two to three weeks.
Renata Scorsone, VP Marketing at Plantaform, described the product as a fully enclosed and automated system that manages the growing environment with precision. This includes regulating light, water, airflow, and temperature to simplify the cultivation of greens, vegetables, and edible flowers. The system aims to make gardening accessible to all, regardless of prior experience.
The Smart Indoor Garden offers several features and benefits. The fogponics system speeds up plant growth and increases yields by delivering nutrients and water directly to the roots. The Plantaform apps assist users by optimizing growing conditions and providing reminders for necessary tasks such as watering and fertilizing. The product’s design is sleek and modern, with options in white or black to complement various home decors. Additionally, it promotes eco-friendly gardening practices by using significantly less water than traditional methods and avoiding pesticides and GMOs.
The Plantaform Indoor Garden package includes all the essentials for a first harvest and is currently available for purchase in the U.S. Check out Plantaform’s website here for more details.
