SwitchBot, a smart home retrofitting and automation brand, has introduced its new SwitchBot Universal Remote. This device is designed to support Matter when used with SwitchBot Hub 2 or Hub Mini Matter Enabled, offering improved convenience and connectivity in home automation.

The SwitchBot Universal Remote is capable of controlling a wide range of infrared (IR) devices, including televisions, air conditioners, lights, fans, DVD players, and projectors. It features an infrared code library that is updated every six months, supporting up to 83,934 remote control models. The remote also integrates with other SwitchBot devices such as Bot, Plug Mini, Curtain, and Ceiling Light, as well as Apple TV and Fire TV. This setup allows for consolidated control of various smart home functions.

The device supports Matter when used with SwitchBot Hub 2 or Hub Mini Matter Enabled, allowing users to manage other smart home devices from brands that also support Matter. This integration aims to provide a unified smart home experience.

– Offline Control: The device can control infrared appliances and SwitchBot Bluetooth devices without an internet connection.
