Cable Matters Inc. has introduced their Thunderbolt 5 Docking Station. This new product enhances connectivity and performance capabilities for professionals, gamers, and content creators. The docking station supports Thunderbolt 5 technology, which offers up to 120 Gbps of bandwidth. This marks an improvement over Thunderbolt 4, providing faster data transfer and improved display capabilities.
The docking station is equipped with an upstream Thunderbolt 5 port that is compatible with Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5, and USB4 based hosts. It also includes three downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports. These ports allow users to connect various devices such as monitors and SSDs. The downstream ports can support multiple high-resolution displays, including up to three 8K monitors at 60Hz or two 8K monitors at 120Hz, which can enhance visual clarity for users.
Additional features of the docking station include a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, dual SD/microSD slots for data transfer, and an audio combo jack for sound quality. It also provides smart charging capabilities, delivering up to 140W of power to connected laptops. This ensures continuous operation and compatibility with connected devices.
One notable feature is Thunderbolt Share, which enables PC-to-PC connectivity. This allows users to connect a second PC equipped with Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 5 ports. This functionality assists with file transfer, folder synchronization, and sharing of peripherals, which can improve collaborative workflows.
